Rev Anthony Oehring

Tony helped found Ford Forward Community Chaplaincy to support prisoners resettling in West Sussex

About Tony

Tony originally trained in Sheffield to be a Social Worker, and spent 7 years in Cornwall and Dorset Social Services specialising in Children and Family services, and latterly in acute mental health work.

Tony was ordained in the Church of England and then spent 23 years, mostly in Medway and Kent as a parish clergyman.  In 2012 he moved into prison chaplaincy and spent next 8 years as Managing Chaplain in HMPs Blantyre House (male) / East Sutton Park (female) and then at HMP Ford - all ‘open’prisons.

Tony helped found Ford Forward Community Chaplaincy to support prisoners resettling in West Sussex - and is currently both Trustee and Volunteer Co-ordinator. He retired from full-time ministry in October 2020 and plans to enjoy his extended family and other interests.

He is licensed as Associate Minister in his local parish in Poole, and is planning to train as a volunteer with Circles South West in 2021.
