Cathy is a founding Trustee of the Community Chaplaincy Association and Managing Community Chaplain of South West Community Chaplaincy

About Cathy

Cathy has worked in the voluntary and charitable sector for about 20 years, having previously worked in finance.  Her change of direction came about through experiencing the ‘power of empathy’, which led to undertaking training in counselling.

She is now the Managing Community Chaplain of South West Community Chaplaincy, and is responsible for the oversight and development of the project.  SWCC serves Cornwall, Devon and West Somerset, and assists around 150 people in any given year, as they make the transition from custody to community.

From 2005 - 2012, Cathy was a Development Advisor with YMCA England, specifically working in the field of Young People and Justice.  Prior to this, Cathy worked as Projects Manager for Exeter YMCA, where she gained practical experience of working with people in prison, through their Prisons programme.

Cathy is a founding Trustee of the Community Chaplaincy Association, and is delighted to have witnessed the growth of this amazing movement around the country over the years.  She has a vision to see Community Chaplaincy provision in every locality in the country one day!
