Our vision and our mission

How we work and what we do to support our members to reduce crime

The Community Chaplaincy Association (CCA) is the umbrella group for this network, supporting member projects by providing resources and enabling the sharing of ideas and information.

The Community Chaplaincy Association’s beneficiaries are primarily the organisations that receive support from CCA. We believe that by working to enhance standards across Community Chaplaincy we will also have a positive impact on those individuals receiving support. We also seek to influence wider change across the sector.

  • Our vision is to see supportive communities  made available for all who seek to move away from crime and reach their full potential.
  • Our mission is to bring our members and other organisations together to widen and deepen desistance support across the country.

Community Chaplaincies work alongside prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families, offering mentoring and holistic support within prison, though the gates and out in the community.

Who we are

As a charity, the board of trustees is responsible for the overall running of the Community Chaplaincy Association.

Our history

  • The first Community Chaplaincy project supporting people leaving prison started in 2001 and was then replicated in other parts of the country.
  • After recognising the key advantages of collaboration across projects, CCA registered as a national charity in 2010.
